Beeswax, 13 lbs.; spirits of turpentine, 13 gallons; boiled linseed oil, 1 gallon. All the ingredients should be pure and of the best quality. Heat them together, in a copper or earthen vessel over a gentle fire, in a water-ath, until they are well mixed.

For Bright Iron Work

Linseed oil, boiled, 80.5; litharge, 5.5; white lead, in oil, 11.25; resin, pulverized, 2.75. Add the litharge to the oil; let it simmer over a slow fire 3 hours; strain it, and add the resin and white lead; keep it gently warmed, and stir it until the resin is dissolved.
