Zinc, 17 parts; copper, 1 part; antimony, 1½ parts. This possesses unsurpassable anti-friction qualities/and does not require the protection of outer casings of a harder metal.
The best alloy for journal boxes is Composed of copper, 24 lbs.; tin, 21 lbs.; and antimony, 8 lbs. Melt the copper first, then add the tin, and lastly the antimony. It should be first run into ingots, then melted, and cast in the form required for the boxes.
