A scientific term applied to the commencement of a scale, and marked with an O. It is the point or beginning from which the scale or distances are graduated. Thus, the zero of Fahrenheit is 32o below the freezing point of water. In the centigrade scale, the zero is made that of freezing water, or 32o of our scale
