S. Telephium: stem erect, 1-2 feet high; leaves large and broad, oval-oblong, dentate, smooth, rounded at the base, and sessile; flowers purple, handsome, in dense corymbs. - Orpine, or Live-long. - Hedge-banks on a gravelly soil. Fl. July to September.
