Dactylon: roots creeping; stem with long branched scions, flowering stem 4-6 inches high, terminating in a single cluster of 3-5 digitate, spreading, many-flowered slender spikes; spikelets purplish; leaves on the barren shoots flat, spreading. - Sandy shores of Devon and Cornwall.
