M. coerulea: stem 1-2 feet high, the upper part naked; leaves long, linear, attenuated; panicle erect, elongate, narrow, the spikelets 1-3-flowered. The var. depauperata has the few spikelets one-flowered. - Wet heaths. Fl. July to September.
