M. trifoliata: stems creeping or floating; leaves trifoliate, the leaflets obovate or oblong; flowers in upright racemes, bell-shaped, with five lobes, white, tinged externally with red, and fringed within. - Marsh Trefoil. - Boggy meadows and pools. Fl. May to July.
