Found usually under beech trees. New Brunswick to Ontario, Wisconsin, and southward.
Light yellow or brownish, purple-striped, scattered along the branches.
None. Plant stem brownish or reddish tinged, arising from brittle, fibrous roots, 6 - 20 inches high.
