A number of pathogenic bacteria have been very thoroughly investigated in animals, and of some of these a brief account may be given. As these microbes propagate in the blood and are found abundantly in the vessels after death, the conditions are often indicated by the term Septicaemia, a word which is in many respects objectionable. In the same category may be included in their relations to animals, the bacillus anthracis, and diplococcus pneumoniae.
