1. Atrophy

The uterus may retain in adult life the undeveloped condition of that of the child. There may be, on the other hand, a premature atrophy, in some cases ascribed to long-continued catarrh, frequent pregnancies, pressure of tumours, etc., in which the organ anticipates the normal senile involution.
