Latin, Chrysarobinum (Gen., Chrysarobini)
Eng., Chrysarobin. A neutral principle extracted from Goa powder.
A pale orange-yellow powder.
Odorless and tasteless.
Very slightly soluble in water. Soluble in 85 parts of alcohol.
1/2 grain (0.03 Gm.).
Eng., Chrysarobin Ointment. Chrysarobin, 6 Gm.; Benzoinated Lard, 94 Gm.
Antiparasitic.
Principally in the treatment of skin diseases, as ringworm, psoriasis, etc.
Internally.-Seldom used.
It should be used with caution as it is a powerful irritant and is liable to cause dermatitis, and on the face, edema, also. It stains the skin a yellowish-brown. Some combinations are shown in the following:
In the treatment of tinea barbae:
