Latin, Myrrha
Eng., Myrrh. A gum-resin obtained from one or more species of Commiphora. Average Dose.-8 grains (0.5 Gm.).
Eng., Tincture of Myrrh. Represents 20 per cent. of the drug in alcohol.
15 minims (1 mil).
Myrrh is contained in the Compound Pills of Rhubarb.
Antiseptic, astringent, carminative.
Employed principally in mouth-washes and gargles for salivation, stomatitis, tonsillitis, etc.
Not often prescribed. The following illustrates the use of the drug:
In the treatment of stomatitis (child 3 years old):
