The virtues of sage have been so extravagantly praised, that, like many of our remedies l, the plant has fallen into disuse from the disgust which its panegyrists have excited. I am convinced, however, that in the form of infusion it possesses some power in allaying the irritability of the stomach 2, and that, on many occasions, it will furnish a salutary beverage. The same observation will apply to the infusions of balm and rosemary. A drink extremely agreeable to the stomach of invalids may also be made by infusing lemon-peel in boiling water, and adding a small quantity of sugar.
