These consist chiefly of water agreeably flavoured. They may be divided into the food fruits and the flavour fruits, the former consisting of figs, dates, prunes, raisins. Dried figs are more nourishing than an equal weight of bread, and six ounces with a pint of milk make a satisfying meal. Milk and dates, half a pint of the one and half a pound of the other, constitute another alternative meal.
