The white spruce fir, named from the colour of its bark, and called in Canada Epinette, or rather Sapinette blanche, is a native of high mountainous tracts in the colder parts of North America, where it attains a height of 40 to 50 feet. The wood is not so resinous as that of the Norway spruce, but it is tougher, less heavy, not so durable, and generally more liable to twist in drying. It is occasionally imported in deals and planks.
