The principal processes in this first project are the sawing and planing of a number of cleats. Other projects involving the same processes are (1) the letter tray shown in Fig. 50. The slats on the sides and bottom are rabbeted into the ends and nailed in place with brads. (2) The box screen in which a flower-pot may stand, Fig. 51. The construction of this is the same as that of the scrap basket. (3) The leaf-press, Fig. 52. This consists of a pair of frames each made of seven slats nailed to four cleats. These are tied tight together with a bunch of newspapers between.
