For this engaging, pint-sized mutt, take a block 3/4 inch thick, 2 inches high, and 3 inches wide. Figure 28. Place the center line over the block and rough out the entire figure.
Work over the head. See Figure 29 for the details of the extended tongue and the ears.

On the smaller figures such as the Mutt, you will need a very sharp knife to reproduce the shaggy effect of dog hair. The point also should be trim for working around the eyes and tongue. Therefore be careful of injuries resulting from the sharp knife and small size of this project.
