Fig. 254 illustrates a footstool completed, except the upholstering. The length of the side rails as well as the height of the legs may be changed to suit individual requirements. Figs. 248 to 253 show various styles of legs which may be used for footstools.

The dimensions of this stool are: Legs, 2 1/2 inches square by 12 inches long; side rails, 7/8 inch by 3 1/2 inches by 12 inches between the legs.
The ordinary turning stock, 1 3/4 inches square, is large enough for most footstool legs. The length may be anything from 8 to 16 inches. Footstools should not be higher than they are wide.
